Training for all associates is one of Sonepar’s key assets. The same goes for the sharing of knowledge and experience, an everyday practice in the Group. To start with, the substantial autonomy given to operating companies allows them to establish solid, enduring ties to their supplier partners and customers and encourages dialog. In addition, Sonepar’s global reach is no obstacle to developing tools and processes shared by all associates, which are conducive to the free flow of ideas, cultures and know-how.
Regularly encouraging the exchange of ideas between Sonepar staff and the businesses in its markets is a strategic necessity if the Group is to anticipate future needs and market shifts. With that goal in mind, a two-day conference for sales teams from Sonepar subsidiaries in Germany, Austria and Switzerland was held in Berlin, with workshops bringing together Group associates and suppliers. Over a thousand people attended the event, whose primary focus was managing change. Lively discussion developed out of the observation that in an unpredictable future and a constantly changing industrial landscape, it is imperative to be able to seize opportunities. That in turn means understanding and anticipating the challenges that will face sales teams tomorrow. The attendees came away with new insights and greater motivation, particularly because the event encouraged everyone to take initiatives.
For two days, our staff and suppliers at the event worked hand in hand under the stimulus of our ambitious slogan, ‘Overcome barriers, seize chances.’ The workshops encouraged our sales people to accept the challenges of a changing world by seizing opportunities.
